Lexus
Toyota is consistently ranked as the most environmentally friendly car company, mostly because of Toyota’s leading position in the development and production of hybrid gas-electric vehicles. From early on, the company complimented Toyota-brand hybrids with upscale hybrids in its luxury line from Lexus. Lexus hybrids give buyers willing spend a bit more green to be green—with no compromise in upscale features and performance. Expect significant price premiums for the privilege. In 2009, the company takes hybrids to a new level when it introduces its first dedicated hybrid-only vehicle: the Lexus HS250h. Think of it as a luxury Prius with a trunk. Lexus hasn’t provided mileage figures, saying only that the HS250h would have “the best combined mileage of any luxury vehicle” sold in the US.
